Principle

The principle behind this method is identical to that of the file method, except that only one map is created. Here, the identifiers of the desired entities are entered individually.

Note on identifiers

Each element of the database has a name and an identifier, and both are alphanumerical.
Example for the departement 92 :

• Identifier = "92"
• Name = "Hauts-de-Seine"

You must enter the desired identifiers (not their names).

Identifiers entry

Enter all the identifiers one after another, separated by spaces, tabulations, or one of the separators checked on the right of the window. It is also possible to put them on several lines for improved legibility.

Advanced functionalities

In certain cases, it can be useful to supply just the beginning of the identifier, instead of the full identifier.

For example, in France, the identifiers of the communes begin with the number of the departement. So to extract the communes of 3 departements, you only have to enter the numbers of the 3 departements, instead of the full list of communes. You also have to check: .

If the other box is checked, the identifier of an entity must correspond exactly to the one you supply, for it to be selected.

Examples of selection

1) You are using Carticque Cantons, and you have chosen the database : "Cantons de Métropole". You want to obtain a map containing the cantons of the departements of Indre-et-Loire and Sarthe.
To do this, select the cantons as your exported level, and then enter the numbers of the departements of Indre-et-Loire (37) and Sarthe (72), and check the partial identification box as below:

Then you just have to click on .

If you choose the database : "Métropole" of Carticque France 2007 CDROM, and arrondissements as your exported level, then the map created contains all the arrondissements whose INSEE code begins with 37 or 72.

2) You are using Carticque Monde, and you have selected the database : "Provinces of the World". You want to extract the outlines of Italy.
First you must choose the country as your inside level, and then enter as below :

In the same way, the provinces have a code number beginning with the country code, so you can change the inside level to "Provinces", and obtain the provinces of Italy. However, if you only want a partial selection of the provinces, you have to enter all the desired identifiers.
